TOURNAMENT RULES

GRADE BASED COMPETITION RULES

2ND GRADE – An athlete must be in the 2nd grade or below as of October 1, 2018 and can be no older than 9 on August 31, 2019.

3RD GRADE – An athlete must be in the 3rd grade or below as of October 1, 2018 and can be no older than 10 on August 31, 2019.

4TH GRADE – An athlete must be in the 4th grade or below as of October 1, 2018 and can be no older than 11 on August 31, 2019.

5TH GRADE – An athlete must be in the 5th grade or below as of October 1, 2018 and can be no older than 12 on August 31, 2019.

6TH GRADE – An athlete must be in the 6th grade or below as of October 1, 2018 and can be no older than 13 on August 31, 2019.

7TH GRADE – An athlete must be in the 7th grade or below as of October 1, 2018 and can be no older than 14 on August 31, 2019.

8TH GRADE – An athlete must be in the 8th grade or below as of October 1, 2018 and can be no older than 15 on August 31, 2019.

HIGH SCHOOL COMPETITION RULES

15U/9TH GRADE – An athlete can be no older than 15 on August 31, 2019. Grade Exception: An athlete who is in the 9th Grade as of October 1, 2018 and who is no older than 16 on August 31, 2019

16U/10TH GRADE – An athlete can be no older than 16 on August 31, 2019. Grade Exception: An athlete who is in the 10th Grade as of October 1, 2018 and who is no older than 17 on August 31, 2019

17U/11TH GRADE – An athlete can be no older than 17 on August 31, 2019. Grade Exception: An athlete who is in the 11th Grade as of October 1, 2018 and who is no older than 18 on August 31, 2019

19U/12TH GRADE – An athlete can be no older than 19 on August 31, 20189. Grade Exception: An athlete who is in the 12th Grade as of October 1, 2018 and who is no older than 20 on August 31, 2019

TEAM ROSTERS

Team rosters must be provided prior to the start of the first game. All teams must bring eligibility documents for each player on the team. If you are challenged the eligibility of a player, you must produce a birth certificate and current report card. If you cannot provide these documents prior to the next game, all games played with the ineligible player will result in a forfeit.

RULES / PLAYING TIMES

Division: 9th -12th (2) 16 minute halves – clock stops on dead balls and free throws

Division: 8th under (2) 14 minute halves – clock stops on dead balls and free throws

Warm up – 3 minutes

Halftime – 3 minutes

Overtime – 3 minutes

FORFEIT

There is a 15 min grace period. Game time is game time. If you are not on the court at your designated start time, run the risk of a forfeit. There will be no exception to this rule.

TIME OUTS

Each team shall receive 5 timeouts per game (3 full timeout) (2 30 second timeouts). Overtime allows 1 full time and 1 30 second timeout with no carryovers.

PERSONAL FOULS

Each player is given 5 personal fouls before fouling out.

Bonus Foul Shots  – 7-10

Double Bonus  – 10+

TECHNICAL FOUL

Any coach that receives a technical foul will have to remain seated for the remainder of the game

Any coach or players that receives 2 technical fouls will be removed for the remainder of the game

All technical fouls given to players will count against the personal foul count

TIE-BREAKERS

Any tie after pool play will be broken using head to head winner. In the case of no head game or any three or more way ties, the following tie-breaking methods will be used:

Score differential up to maximum of 15 points per game (Pool Games Only)
Least points allowed

REFEREES

Referees control the game fully. All referee calls must be honored. There will be no meetings, discussion, etc. regarding referees.  They have full control of the game.

PROTEST FEE

$100.00 cash. If you win the protest, the cash will be returned. However, if you lose, you protest money is donated to the tournament host.

BASKETBALL SIZE

The home team must provide the game ball.

6th grade and below divisions shall use the 28.5 circumference basketball

7th grade and above divisions shall use the 29.5 circumference basketball
